Mediterranean Villa
This luxurious modern retreat on the south-east coast of Spain is defined by its Mediterranean climate. Set up in the mountains the house makes the most of its high-level vantage point overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The structure projects up from its setting and defiantly apposes its landscaped surrounds. Standing as a monolithic structure the building comprises of a series of streamlined blocks stacked anomalously to create a unique form of shifting slabs.
The building layout is formed of a series of zonal spaces; internal, external, covered, shaded, with the junction between each zone clearly defined to provide distinction. The interiors take on an impressive scale. Vast walls and ascetic room layouts allude to the vastness of the Mediterranean environment beyond, allowing the beauty of the landscape to be incorporated within each space. This is most clearly evident across the swimming pool where the infinity edge forms a continuation of the ocean beyond, ultimately terminating on the horizon.
