STEM EDUCATION centre
Part of an overall masterplan for the school complex, this new state of the art education facility at a private primary school in Hertfordshire acts as a pivotal building across the historic site. Designed to reference key axis through the site, the building’s architecture acts as a wayfinder in the centre of the site, helping students, teachers and parents navigate their way through the grounds.
The architectural language seeks to harmonise the pragmatic building requirements of a science block with beautiful architectural form and layout. Not just addressing the physical needs of the students and teachers, the building is also designed to address their health and wellness needs through careful experiential, spatial and visceral design considerations.
The facilities provide specialist student education in four specific disciplines, namely Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). Rather than training with a single focus STEM Education combines all four subjects in an interdisciplinary and applied approach to better equip the students to develop a career and to consider real-world applications.
