ALDGATE HIGH STREET, LONDON
This residential project set with The City of London stands as a contrast to the Minories Office Development which provides its backdrop. The concept of tumbling blocks allows the office development to be incrementally visualised on approach, increasingly more so as the building becomes progressively fragmented as it elevates.
To create these moments of fragmentation the building composition is formed of six varying components. Taking a standard solid block as the starting point, each additional component is a variation on a theme. The combination of these six components introduces significant articulation and variation to the front, rear and side flank elevations creating a unique building that is distinctively animated of all sides.
